A TRICK OF THE TAIL - 1976 - GENESIS

A Trick of the Tail é o sétimo álbum de estúdio do Genesis e o primeiro após a saída de Peter Gabriel. A partir desse disco, o baterista Phil Collins assumiu os vocais.

Phil Collins viria a desenvolver uma carreira longa e de sucesso, tanto solo quanto nos posteriores trabalhos dos Genesis, os quais se afastariam do rock progressivo em direção à música pop depois da saída de Steve Hackett, com o álbum "...And Then There Were Three...", e com o álbum seguinte, Duke, que seria o primeiro nº 1 da banda.

A Trick of the Tail é por muitos considerado um dos melhores do grupo. Lançado em 1976, o álbum traz também músicas instrumentais, como "Los Endos" e psicodélicas, como "Dance on a Volcano". Nessa época, o grupo veio ao Brasil, e Chester Thompson ocupou a bateria (junto com Collins, em algumas músicas). Na turnê europeia, Bill Bruford (ex-Yes e King Crimson) foi o baterista convidado.

NURSERY CRYME - 1971 - GENESIS

Nursery Cryme, uma das obras mais cultuadas e celebradas dos anos 70 e da história do rock progressivo, é o terceiro álbum do Genesis, lançado em 1971. O grupo havia conseguido se livrar das amarras de produtores que queriam direcionar o som deles, como aconteceu com o primeiro álbum. Eles conseguiram obter relativo sucesso com seu segundo álbum, voltado ao som progressivo, Trespass, porém, o baterista John Mayhew era considerado pouco técnico para os projetos ambiciosos da banda e o guitarrista Anthony Phillips deixou o grupo para estudar música clássica.

Entram em cena o guitarrista Steve Hackett e o jovem baterista Phil Collins. Estava formada a equipe pioneira da banda. Sendo assim, o grupo precisava de um sucesso estrondoso, algo que chamasse a atenção. A resposta veio na imagem bizarra de uma enfermeira, em um campo de críquete, com um arremessador ensanguentado nas mãos em posição de rebatedora e cabeças espalhadas pelo campo.

A bizarrice era tamanha que todos queriam ver do que se tratava. A verdade é que o Genesis havia elaborado uma grande obra de sua discografia: músicas desafiadoras com um trabalho instrumental impecável e lírica riquíssima e elaborada. Este é o Nursery Cryme.

SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND - 1973 - GENESIS

Selling England by the Pound é o quinto álbum de estúdio da banda britânica de rock progressivo Genesis, gravado e lançado em 1973.

Sucedeu Foxtrot e foi o maior sucesso comercial da banda com Peter Gabriel, atingindo a terceira posição no Reino Unido e ganhando disco de ouro nos EUA em 1990. Uma versão remasterizada foi lançada em CD em 1994 pela Virgin Records, na Europa, e pela Atlantic Records, nos EUA e no Canadá.

Muitos críticos consideram Selling England by the Pound o melhor disco do Genesis. É o penúltimo com Peter Gabriel. Todas as canções são creditadas a Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett e Mike Rutherford.

Disco fantástico do início ao fim. I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) foi muito bem executada no Brasil, e o single foi sucesso de vendas.
