You are the Sunshine of my Life, do álbum  Talking Book, de 1972, foi lançada em single no ano seguinte. A canção se tornou o terceiro single de Woder a figurar na primeira posição no Billboard Hot 100 chart e foi o seu primeiro na Easy Listening. Ele ganhou ainda um Grammy de Melhor Performance Vocal Pop Masculina . 

A Rolling Stone classificou a canção como número 281 em sua lista das 500 Maiores Músicas de Todos os Tempos. As duas primeiras linhas da canção são cantadas por Jim Gilstrap e Lani Groves, e os sopros da versão do LP foram suprimidos.
