A Electric Light Orchestra foi formada no final dos anos 70 por Jeff Lyne, que nos anos 90 integraria o Travelling Wilburys, com George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbinson e Tom Petty. On the Third Day é o terceiro álbum de estúdio da banda. Não chegou a fazer sucesso no Reino Unido, mas figurou por várias semanas entre os mais vendidos nos EUA.
